How about I do it tomorrow? Or Monday? Or the first of the month, or the first of the year? UGH! That is what I say to myself waaaayyyy too often! This time of year, especially, we can slide into November and think, "it's the holidays, it's too busy, people are busy, or agents don't want to hear from me now, I will wait until the first of the year to really hit the ground running."
This has been my mantra in the past, and I know some of you subscribe to the same mindset! I am crystal clear that I will never be "ready" to do things that scare me. My brain is wired to protect me. Telling myself that tomorrow, Monday, or next month is better allows me to take a deep breath and believe that I don't need to put myself out there or do that scary thing until later. It allows me to kick the can further down the road.
So this year, we are doing our business planning for 2022 in October. In my world, it will usually take about 30-60 days of activity to pay dividends with new clients or partners. So if I wait until January to start activities, results don't show up with business until March… therefore, we get a crappy first quarter. Planning in October and executing activities in October, November, and December will ensure that January 2022 starts strong.
I share this with you because some of you have worked your behind off this year and the thought of ramping up in October makes you want to vomit. I get it! But new goals, new ideas could be just the ticket to inspire you to keep going. I know at some point this market will turn, rates will rise, and I will wish for the busier days of 2020 and 2021. Don't let your opportunities pass you by!
